This is probably the last review for a year as we visited Casino on the last day it was open in 2017…. It will be open again in the summer of 2018 and if you are reading this GO GO GO. This is an architectural, historical, social and artistic gem. Suitable for all ages and something that one only gets to see in a few places in the world (Bramante’s Tempietto in Rome comes to mind) …It has history and stories that the guides do a GREAT job telling and you can see they truly love and honor the Casino for what it was and is.

This is a remarkable remnant of eighteenth century Ireland and should be a “must” to experience for all visitors to Dublin. It is described as one of Europe’s finest neoclassical temples dedicated to the arts. It has a fascinating history and the guided tours are informative and really interesting. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and made our visit more memorable. Full marks to the Irish Government through its Office of Public Works for conserving such an important feature.

As a native of Dublin, having grown up mere minutes from the Casino, I thought I knew everything about my local area. Two minutes into the tour I had learned a bevy of interesting new things about the history of the area I had lived in all my life!
The tour guides were engaging, the grounds of the Casino are beautiful, and the history of the location is as interesting as any historical building I have visited in Ireland. It features a range of eccentric characters and pioneering architects, and the detail of the beautiful building is added to by the knowledge of just how unique its features really are.
